I've been busy doing "other things", but have just seen the email messages
about the V(USB)/U(FM) Mode.
So, gave it a go just now on the 09:40 UTC, 3rd November pass as AO-51 went
just a little West of New Zealand.
I was able to work VK2ZAZ, Geff, in New South Wales, Australia, from here in
Wellington, New Zealand.
Very cool giving it a go. Thanks to the AO-51 ops.
I used Nova to watch the pass and display the rotator settings, which I was
changing manually. (Must get around to building the interface for that :-)
Used Ham Radio Delux to Doppler-tune my Kenwood TS-2000. Set to also support
manual, so I could adjust the transmit a little to keep my pitch sounding
OK.
As others have noted, including the message below, some very extreme level
changes in the receive signal.
At times, fully quieting the FM receive, but then dipping right away to no
copy, and then fading back again.
This is not something I have heard when AO-51 is in the more normal FM/FM
mode.
Regards,
Jim, ZL1TYF.
