Hi Guys,

I follow the tip I picked up of the bb some time ago.
Use a digital recording device or similar. Switch on at the start of the pass and record the whole thing. Easy to play back and write up the log and QSL cards.

  Broom handle tip looks good.
  Will give it a try.

Believe it or not I paper log.

1. Extend the handle on your antenna by a couple of feet. I did it by
cable-tying the handle to a sawed off broom handle.

2. Attach the radio to the extended handle. I cable-tied the belt clip to
the broom handle.

3. Attach a small spiral note-pad to the extended handle. I had better
luck using tape for this.

4. You can now hold the antenna/radio/note-pad with one hand without a
great deal of fatigue by resting the end of the extended handle against your
waist or hip.

5. Using a headset mic, your other hand is now free to adjust for Doppler
and write down calls.

6. You can even key the radio with the hand holding the
antenna/radio/note-pad.

7. I grab the antenna/radio/note-pad using my left hand and butt the
extended handle against my left hip as I am right handed -- your mileage may
vary.

P.S. I may be doing a few rare ones this way on Sept 1st.

Subject: [amsat-bb] Logging with an Arrow

The other day I made my first contacts using my IC-W32A and my "Cheap Yagii
Arrow" antenna. Like many before me I found paper logging to be impossible.
There have been many clever solutions to this problem using a recorder
documented, but I can not find any reference to them. Is there someone with
a better memory, or filing system, who could point me to some references.
