That is great news.  I knew that someone would be
successful again.  In the 1994 a few dedicated Mir
Space Stations supporters would meet cosmonaut
Aleksandr Serebrov on a private channel in the 2-meter
band.  Dave Larsen N6CO would start the QSO from the
CA area as Mir went east.  Then WF1F (Boston) would
pick up Alexksander over the Mississippi and then
later pass the QSO over to Joe W2KQ in New Jersey.

>From Boston I can not hear Joe in New Jersey 250 miles
away.  However to my surprise when I told Aleksandr to
Call Joe, I could hear both sides of the conversation.
 I could Hear Joe’s strong NJ accent.  I could not
make out very many words from Joe, but I could clearly
tell it was him.

At the time of the contact, my antenna was pointing
East over the Atlantic at a low elevation with the
computer tracking Mir.  Joe was also pointing East
over the Atlantic at Mir.  Our antennas were Not
pointing at each other, they were both pointing out to
sea.
The only possible path was a refection off of Space
Station Mir.  Also a little bit of morning ducking may
have enhanced the effect. Ducting alone world not have
crated the path.  At the time were we both running
similar stations, M2 CP22 beams, FM and aprox 2-3kerp.

Congratulations to all and let’s keep trying for more
contacts.

Ps  Any colleges out there interested in building a
mode B/J analog-transponder for the Moon.
Need an experienced team to build a dozen Cube-Sat
size transponders so we can attach one to a Moon
Lander in a few years.
