Many thanks for the file, which I've now downloaded.  I'll try it, and
let you know I get on.  Firstly, I shall have to get Predict set up for
real time tracking.  AFAIK I need to find and install a client for
driving the com port.  

I've used GS232, software interface, but wonder whether EasyComm or
FODTrack drivers would be suitable for the LVB tracker.

Unfortunately I'm not very experienced with Linux, so it may take a
while to sort out Predict and its interface :-(
