Andrew Glasbrenner <glasbrenner at mindspring.com> wrote: Not quite. AO-7 resets every time it enters/emerges from eclipse, the
batteries have failed open circuit, and the spacecraft runs only off panels
and only while in sunlight. It comes up in either mode A or mode B, although
it has been favoring mode B lately by a wide margin. A good site to check
for the current mode pattern is:

http://oscar.dcarr.org/

When AO-7 enters a period of no eclipses, the 24 hour mode change timer
toggles between A and B just as it was designed to do 32+ years ago. The
satellite is _entirely_ hardware driven, and much of it still works when the
panels see sunlight, including command functions. The next period of no
eclipses begins this fall.

Please enjoy AO-7, and remember to keep your uplinks into AO-7 at levels low
enough that they don't "FM" or distort the passband. There are several
regular users on the satellite, so making QSOs is usually possible on most
passes.
