Bob,
As a NJ AMSAT Co-ordinator, I have pushed the same here on the East 
Coast.  May I ask you to send an e-mail to Gould, WA4SXM, and advise him 
of your observations and wanting to become a flag waiver for the 
organization.  Go to the AMSAT-NA web site and fill out the volunteer 
form and contact the Co-ordinator's on the list you will find at the web 
site.  Interests expressed are certainly welcome.  I for one have 
observed large hamfests in this area that no-one from AMSAT has attended 
and I try to attend as many as I can within reasonable driving distances. 
I'm sure you will get the results you feel you need in this area by 
contacting local reps of AMSAT.  Someone with an increasing interest in 
this end of the hobby can be "drafted" to assist.  Enthusiasm is a 
pre-requisite.
