I will be attempting to detect CAPE-1 on the 3/27 08:01 UTC AOS in Alaska.
I plan a two-fold approach to detecting the cubesat:
1- Monitor CW with my FT-817 and Arrow out on my
driveway (9.6 Kb FSK is inaudible except for slight quieting of the frequency).
2- Monitor 9.6 kb FM using my FT-847 and 11-elem
M2 yagi (fixed on horizon) with input to my sound card and MixW2.
The first will be easy, though a bit coolish in
single-digit temps at local midnight. The second
I have not done since early AO-51 telemetry was
watched. I need a tutor to help me set up
MixW2. I will attempt to find those old
instructions on the Amsat website if they still
exist. A question is whether AO-51 9.6 Kb tlm
mode is the same as the cubesat. I'm hoping to
make a trial run on AO-51 to test my setup before
next Monday night (0801 utc 3/27).
I have MixW2 installed and a audio cable that
connects the 9600 packet output of my FT-847 to
my sound card. MixW2 launches OK, but I have
forgotten everything on running it.
The keps shown above are refused by my NOVA so I
am not able to get accurate AOS predicted time
and azimuth. Likewise, I do not know what to
expect for Doppler on 435.245 MHz...I assume it
will be high side at AOS. Nick Pugh, K5QXJ, is
getting the AOS predicts for me, so any help on the rest is appreciated:
My lat=60.675N, lon=151.316W, AST=UTC-8
