I used a method with an interesting sort of nut...I forget the name of 
it but the size was 3/18 it was a thicker nut with a thread on one end 
and the oppsite thread for the other have. I found that I could easily 
bolt this into the boom and then the other side attaches to the 
attachment point on the tripod
