I think a slight deviation to our usual postings is fine. I'll be sure to visit the site.

Subject: [amsat-bb] off topic: space station of another kind

Sorry to be off topic a bit maybe (we are all space fans one way or another) but I am wanting to help a friend .....

The small town of Vulcan Alberta here in Canada is working to get the first screening of the new soon to be released Startrek movie in Vulcan. There is a lot of movie and professional people behind this cause, being led by Dana Dickens, the Vulcan Tourism Director. This group was created as part of a campaign to bring the World Premiere (or even a sneak peak) of the new Star Trek movie to Vulcan, Alberta (population 1,942) in May 2009.

At least check out the web site below to see how dedicated this town is to Bulcan and the Star Trek concept.

To play an active part in this process you can use facebook to check out the group and its process to date.

The Facebook location is: "Star Trek XI - Help bring Spock home to Vulcan, Alberta"

The Vulcan town site is: http://www.vulcantourism.com

If you can help in anyway or would like to add your support, I am sure that Dana would appreciate the input.

Again sorry for the off topic ..... but in our hearts we are all Trekies.....
