As a dedicated (but frustrated!) long time user of HRD Satellite stuff with
my TS2000 my own experience is that the new version 5 is still a problem.
However it would appear that the experience varies across hardware platform.
I know Simon has taken note of this from my posting on his forum.
I find the tracking, even when reduced to its most basic form, consumes huge
amounts of cpu time. I have also noticed that when connected to the radio
(via HRD) Doppler updating (and other radio functions) fails during periods
of fast change, i.e. when the sat passing overhead. Whilst HRD maintains
its functionality to the radio and to the tracking module it can be a pig to
get the tracking module to take back control.

Hi,
One thing I'm doing at the moment is reducing the load from HRD, especially
with satellite tracking.
The redrawing of the screen is not as efficient as it should be, I'll sort
this out soon, I've also seen very high CPU load.
I also have a netbook for testing - all this hardware I have to buy costs a
lot but I hope it'll be worth it in the end.

I have been using V 4.1 Beta for a few months, and my sense is that all of
the multitasking HRD requires is taxing the processor on my Acer Aspire One
netbook beyond its capacity. I may be wrong about that, but I suspect that's
what's going on.
