The D700 supports multiple configurations. The different IDs are assigned to the various modes. The most common mode now is PKT mode which utilizes RS0ISS-4. Another mode is APRS mode which is RS0ISS-4. During 9600 baud ops, the ID was RS0ISS-5. ARISS is the alias assigned to all modes so you don't have to constantly change.

At one time I thought the Path indicated the bands that were in use,
sometimes split frequency, sometimes in one band and out the other...
Perhaps Ken can confirm that...
