I was going to respond to this this afternoon, but I realized I'd only used
WBFM to listen to FM broadcast band signals, so I waited to get home to try
it.  My IC-706MKIIG does will go into WFM mode in both 6 and 2 meters.

Whether that's what you need or not, I can't say.
