[amsat-bb] QubeSat structure question

Dear AMSATs,

I have a question concerning CubeSats structures.
I am looking for a way to have a total space of a 1U (10cm x 10cm x 10cm) CubeSat, of which 0.5U (10cm x 10cm x 5cm) is used for electronics and battery and the other 0.5U will be used for light weight deployable solar panels.

Has this been done before ?
Any ideas ?
