I'll soon be flying. I have made one of those Tape Measure antennas

trip. IMO, it works as well as an Elk. It certainly is easier to fit in 
the luggage. I'll even keep my Pryme Al-800 in the luggage but I will 
take my Smiley antenna with my radios on board. Simply, in the worst 
case, the Smiley can also be used for LEO satellites.

The Tape Measure antenna is easy to put together, the way I made it, all 
parts are held by the coax, so none will get lost.
