It is probable that the surge got deeper into the the tracker and
damaged other components.
Lightning has a habit of doing major damage and also stressing other parts.
It is probable that the control device has experienced EMP damage
that causes it to do strange things.
I learned my lesson many years ago when trying to be the hero and
fixing some lightning damaged gear.
I got everything working, and a week later the equipment was back for
additional repairs.
Then the next week it was back again.
The fix was to replace the equipment or replace all of the solid state devices.
Just replacing what is bad today will get the equipment back up for a
while, but, it will probably fail again, at an inopportune time.
Lightning just stresses the devices too much.
