Re: Equipment & Literature Disposal
June 3, 2011
The literature and equipment listed below is mostly free to individuals and/or groups involved in OSCAR development and OSCAR support activities. In some cases a contribution direct to AMSAT-NA may be appropriate. Most equipment comes with all accessories and original manuals. Pickup must be arranged! Cataloging this material is a big job. Please (1) bear with me as I issue updates over next several weeks and (2) respond directly -- do NOT clutter AMSAT BB.
Note to those who know me personally -- Im in good health, just moving and downsizing and Id like to see this stuff get into hands of someone wholl appreciate it and/or where appropriate preserve it. Anyone who has moved 50+ years of QST several times will understand.
Update: 7 June, 2011
Sorry I cant respond to everyone personally but all replies are being read and saved. Again, please note that this is NOT a for sale posting. Id like to see these items go to museums, libraries, and individual collections of those who have made significant contributions to the Amateur Satellite Program and to Amateur Radio in general. My memory isnt that great these days (actually it never was) so If you make a request it might help to mention your background and connections. However, some of the items mentioned are junk and available to anyone (this does not include the Bird wattmeter)
.
Also, It would be helpful if readers could forward this list to college libraries, antique radio museums, EME & VHF/UHF/Microwave lists, etc. Several of the books were personal gifts and signed by the authors. If a museum would like me to reconstruct (fully operational) the downlink receiving system I used to monitor Sputnik I or the mode A station I used for initial OSCAR 6 communications I might be able to do this. Stay tuned for updates as I open new boxes from old office moves. Also, if someone with a truck wants to pick up 55 years of not so gently used QSTs before they go to the dump it would make my life much easier.
