I love and use the out-of-production ICOM IC-W32A with an Arrow antenna. The
IC-W32A can operate crossband duplex FM VHF/UHF. Its little VFO knob is very
nice for shlemiels like me that have trouble with memory channels. I bought
a second one just to have a backup.

For SSB, I have been enamored of the Yaesu FT-897D for its batteries and
VHF/UHF coverage for the longest time. However, it does not do duplex. I
noticed that Patrick WD9EWK -- love you, Patrick, you crazy grid activator!
-- uses a *pair* of what appear to be Yaesu FT-817s for his portable SSB

It's full duplex the old fashioned way!
