[amsat-bb] New Sat Frequencies for Poland

According to the Polski Związek Krótkofalowców (PZK) website 2400-2450 MHz has now been allocated to the Amateur-satellite Service in Poland. The website also indicates that the amateur radio BRITE-PL satellite, due to launch from Yasny on a DNEPR in October 2012, will be using this allocation.

The Amateur Service in Poland was also allocated 70.1-70.3 MHz and 3400-3410 MHz.

Although in some parts of the world 3400-3410 MHz is allocated to the Amateur-satellite Service it is not in Europe and Africa. Indeed many countries do not even have an Amateur Service allocation at 3400-3410 MHz so the Polish move to allocate the band for the Amateur Service is a welcome step forward. 

The ARRL plays an important part in the IARU and ARRL members are present at ITU WRC conferences. Hopefully list members will be reminding the ARRL of the importance of achieving a global Amateur-satellite Service allocation at 3400-3410 MHz (as well as a 50 MHz allocation) at a future WRC.
