Yep sure can and I do. My ISP is via a satellite service WILDBLUE Their 
web based email sucks real bad. Refuse to use it.
So when we moved out of town to the country I kept my BIG-RIVER dot NET 
email account. And it will show if you go
searching the IP address in my email headers.
