Hi Doug!
I don't use VOX in the recorder. I make sure the recorder's
clock is accurate, and know the start time of the recording.
Then I record the entire pass. With passes at 10 to 20
minutes each, and not using the highest quality recording
setting on my recorder, I don't worry about running out of
memory on the recorder. This lets me be reasonably
accurate in the time I use for each QSO.
Some may just log QSOs using the start or end time
of the pass. I would rather have the correct time for each QSO
in my log, so I don't use this approach.
And I still have a lot of MP3s over the past 10 years at home,
from many different satellites. Storage is cheap, so I have
held onto them.
73!
