Steve,

UZ7HO Soundmodem does not require much configuration.  You install it,
select the sound device, and setup the modem for 1200 baud AX.25 AFSK.
That's it.

UISS setup is even easier.  You just need to enter your callsign.
Optionally you can configure your Latitude and Longitude for position
reporting.

Next, you launch Soundmodem.  Assuming your audio input and output
levels are set correctly, it should be ready to decode packets from
the ISS.  After Soundmodem is running, launch UISS.  It will show any
packets decoded in the lower window.  The default settings for beacon
path (UNPROTO CQ VIA ARISS) will work perfectly.

The trick is to remember to launch Soundmodem FIRST before you launch
UISS.  Both must be running, otherwise nothing will happen.

I am a MixW user for most digital modes but have found UISS is the
simplest interface for exchanging position data and simple QSO's via
the ISS.
