Hi all, I received PSAT for the first time today. I had just done an
SO-50 pass and saw that PSAT would be in range in about 30 minutes so
I stuck around to try and receive it. It seemed surprisingly strong
considering it is supposed to only be putting out 350 mw. I recorded
audio of the pass and just now tried to decode it with UZ7HO's
Soundmodem for Windows, which I have used to decode the ISS
digipeater. Unfortunately, I am only able to decode two packets out of
the numerous transmissions which, to me, seem strong enough to decode.
This is a problem I've had with the ISS as well but it never seemed
this bad. Are there some special settings I need to change in
Soundmodem to decode the packets from PSAT? For example, I only see
APRS packets, no satellite beacon data, shouldn't I see that too? Here
is what I got
1:Fm N3FCX To S9UT2R Via PSAT*,ARISS* <UI R Pid=F0 Len=25> [11:37:00R]
'g.7l #/]ANT TELE WAVE=
1:Fm K1WY To TQTU7U Via PSAT*,ARISS* <UI R Pid=F0 Len=28> [11:37:56R]
'dGvl -/]WEST HARTFORD CT=
(time stamps are wrong because I didn't decode it live)
Here is an mp3 of the audio recording if you want to try and decode it yourself.
