Hi Kevin,

I don't see the connection between 800mhz Rx and 3rd harmonic desense.  
My guess (no hard evidence here) is that the ability to receive 800 mhz 
was simply a programming change to the user interface, not allowing the 
rig to go there.  No changes to the RF chain, because that would be a 
rather expensive change (manufacturing, certifications, etc).  Without 
RF changes, the rig's performance wouldn't be any difference with or 
without the user interface change.

Is there evidence that they did something more than that?
