Subject: [amsat-bb] Antennas
Several DIY projects - as well as a couple commercial units - suitable for portable sat work listed on the ANTENNAS page at ... http://www.work-sat.com
>From a unit made out of barbed wire ... or an old umbrella ... to one made from that steel tape measure in your junk drawer ... you can get into the world of high gain quite inexpensively. Heard AO-73 at both 30mW and higher power with a tape measure beam the past two Saturdays ... as well as speaking with an astronaut aboard the ISS with the same antenna with my HT turned down to 2W tx power.
