Ted,

I am using a 1/2wave vertical (10m Ringo) for an antenna. I have never
been able to keep the down link transmitter turned on with less than
40w. Frequently it takes as much as 80w to keep the TX on. This may
have as much to do with the radiation angle from my antenna as the power.

When 10m is open, the terrestrial "PY" and "LU" stations, who are
clearly out of the footprint of NO84, turn on the FM-TX. They are
probably using less than 30w.

So to answer the question, depends on your antenna. Use what it takes,
but no more than needed.

KO6TZ Bob

When launched, the recommended TX power was no more than 25W. Has that
changed?
