No, it's a separate field and not required for LoTW. You have to enter
the band/frequency fields separately.

The mode field is completely unnecessary, but is part of the ADIF
spec. I like to set it so I can run stats easily on Mode B vs. Mode J,
but it's still somewhat redundant.
