[amsat-bb] Fiberglass Poles for Antenna Mounting?

Granger sells fiberglass poles.
But my understanding is that it is critical on crossbooms so you don't
distort the pattern. I am not sure it is needed for the mast.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
