[amsat-bb] Multiple grids in N3FJP

Matthew,

To add to Clayton and Paul’s excellent advice, here is how I’m handling
grid line operations in ACLog.

No further developments in Scott’s software for grid line operation.
ACLog does not directly support working from a grid line or working a
station on a grid line.  There are work arounds:


If you are on the grid line, most of the work is handled by TQSL which is
used by ACLog to sign and upload your log.  Using TQSL, create a Station
Location for the grid intersection.  Enter your contacts into ACLog, then
upload them to LoTW using this special Station  Location.

I’ve renamed one of the four Other fields to be Rover and put the grid or
grids where I was located for a contact when I’m not working from home.
This helps me keep my entries organized.

Note that ACLog doesn’t understand roving and will add the grids of the
stations you worked into the awards totals.


If you work a station that is on a grid line, then you need to enter the
contact twice for operation on a line and four times for operation from a
corner.  

Type the contact using the correct time and one of the grids and press
Enter to add it to the database.  Then choose the Recall tag on the ACLog
menu bar (at the top of the window, starts with File, Edit, Settings,
etc.) which will fill all of the fields from that first grid.  Add one
minute to both the Time On and Time Off and change the grid to the second
grid, then press Enter.  You have to change the time as LoTW treats the
second contact with the same station at the same time as a correction, not
an addition.

Repeat two more times if you contacted someone operating from a corner.

Upload the contacts to LoTW using your the correct Station Location
(probably your home station QTH).  When you download from LoTW in the
future, only one of your confirmed contacts will be flagged as received.
ACLog ignores the information downloaded from LoTW that confirms the
additional grids.

Log into the LoTW website, and click on the Your QSOs tab.  Click on the
Most Recent QSLs button.  Click on Details for the contact with the
station on the grid line.  Under Worked Station, you’ll find Grid and a
listing of the grids where the other station was located.  If you see two
or four grids there, you have a confirmed contact from those grids.

Now return to ACLog and edit the records for that contact that don’t show
L under the Received column.  Manually add the L to that record.
