Hi All,
It's not just the US that will be QRV on sats for JOTA - I know of at least
two UK stations - GB2GP (Gilwell Park, home of Scouting) and GB4WS
(Wiltshire Scouts, a county-wide event for approx. 100 or so young people) -
who will be trying to get some contacts in too.
My hope is that the amsat side of things will add an extra 'wow factor' to
it, so anyone that happens to share a footprint with Southern or
South-Eastern England, please do look out for us and give us a call!
Chances are the majority of the time we'll be looking at SSB/FM voice
contacts, especially at GB4WS, as we know we get a lot of people who haven't
ever done anything with radio before, and voice is easily understandable
whereas CW is much harder for those who don't already know it to understand.
We might do the odd demo using skimmer to decode though. We'll also be
likely to try some packet decodes, and the funcube data.
Look forward to working as many of you as are in range!
73, and a firm left handshake,
John (XLX)

We will be listening as well. I will be with BSA Troop 287 in EM74 at a
campout on the 21st. I will be using my call sign.
