[amsat-bb] S BAND USE

The ISS is constantly downlinking on 2395Mhz an Amateur TV signal.
Most of the time the camera is not connected, buy you can detect and
test with the constant DVB-S blank transmission. See:

The recommended receiver is a "minitouner" which can be used with and
without a downconverter/pre amp. The signal is quite strong and there
is live video the odd time, mainly during school contacts over Europe.
We don't expect it to be used much until the new power supply and
radios are installed in the colombus module, but you can set up and
test on every ISS pass. Elevation tracking is really a must and a 2ft
or 3ft dish with a circular feed helps.

If using a down converter, it would be best to use one designed for
digital signals, as sometimes other types introduce errors into the
signal.
