Tom,

When you are in the screen to send a message to a
call sign, you press the F key to bring up the list
of "phrases" (stored messages). Then you scroll up
or down using either the round button or VFO knob
to highlight the message you want, then press the
right side of the round button. This puts the phrase
into the message text line. If you have not stored
any of these messages, either using the keypad or
the Kenwood software, the F key won't bring anything
up while you are trying to compose a message.

The printed manual in the TH-D72A box doesn't address
these messages. You have to either use the larger manual
on the CD, or you can download the larger manual from
Kenwood:

http://manual.kenwood.com/files/4ff15b9c0988f.pdf

I found the phrases covered on page 65 of this 75-page
PDF. If printed out, it would be on page 22 of the APRS
section of the manual.

I apologize if you were hoping for a complete step-by-
step instruction in my FalconSat-3 article that was in
a recent AMSAT Journal. Had I done that, the article
would have been much longer, and parts of it would read
like a Kenwood manual. I hope that this message, taken
with the TH-D72's manuals and what you have already
read, helps you get set up to exchange messages via
FalconSat-3 soon.

73!
