Gabe,

Great plan!!! You'll make a LOT of folks happy. Some day,
I hope to have antennas back up at my new QTH and be active
on the SATs again.

I'll be in Fairbanks (BP64) in August for a week and plan
to activate several nearby Grids. The costs of motels and rental
cars are unbelievable, but AK is on my Bucket List and that
makes it OK - HIHI. More info later.

Safe Travels! GL/73, Bob K8BL

Subject: [amsat-bb] Crazy Alaska Grids

Hello fellow bird folk,

Tomorrow evening (Wednesday) I embark on a quick rove to the far north.
Being that I have a rare two day "weekend" this week, I thought might as
well take advantage of it. I will be going to Barrow, AK, the furthest
north point in the United States at over 71 degrees north, well into the
Arctic. The grid is BQ11. I arrive in Barrow mid-day on Thursday (will be
spending the night in Anchorage, as I have activated all nearby grids
thoroughly and there is an active sat op in BP51, I have no plans to
activate). Shortly after arriving in Barrow, I will get on a Cessna Caravan
to Wainwright, AK, a short way southwest of Barrow. The grids here are AQ90
and BQ00 and I plan to be on the line. I only have about four hours on the
ground in Wainwright, approximately 2105Z Thursday until 0100Z before
returning to Barrow. I will focus on the full NA AO-7 passes as well as
FO-29 towards JA and EU, other passes as feasible. Upon return to Barrow, I
will have a rental car and be up all through the night working passes
#fullharambe until I leave mid-day on Friday with a focus on FO-29.

I will bring my ninja FT-817NDs as well as my IC-910H, with trusty Arrow.
Two other grids possible are BQ50 and BP64, but these are relatively short
stopovers on milkrun flights and I definitely don't expect to be able to
activate, although if the opportunity presents itself I shall seize such
opportunity to snag the /r. There should be many opportunities for chasers
throughout the northern hemisphere to get BQ11 and still decent chance for
the others. Specific updates will be posted to twitter @AL6D_Alaska as
possible and necessary.

73 harambe,

Gabe
