Oh, my..... I am showing my age now. I became a ham in 1993 and 
immediately went into satellite operations. My VUCC in late 1993 is #17. 
For at least a dozen years after that they increased very rarely.

I am glad to see all the activity on the satellites and enough 
satellites for everyone to have fun with.
