Some people put a recorder or mobile phone in their breast pocket and
make sure they repeat the other station's call.

Personally, if I can't understand the callsign from my own downlink
recording or through a recording like the above, I don't count it as a
contact. If I knew I heard it on my downlink but couldn't remember it
and didn't have a recording I suppose I would be okay with finding out
the call from someone else or through listening to someone else's
recording.
