On the 1990 launched PACSATS AO-16 & LO-19, onboard software had
detection of SEUs (Single Event Upsets), allowing detection and
correction on the fly, as well as logging of SEUs.

SEUs were produced when high energy particles hit and change a bit in
local satellite memory.

These SEUs Logs could be downloaded, and thru a local developed
program knowing time of SEU it could be determined where was the
satellite at that time.

Thru several days error logs, plots could be produced, amazingly
showing the South Atlantic Anomaly danger zone and other areas of
higher energy.

One of the graphs at: http://amsat.org.ar/showlog.gif

At that time (1991) results where shared to NASA, becoming a
contribution due to Amateur Satellites and AMSAT.

This 30 years old application (showlog at
http://amsat.org.ar/SOFTWARE/TRACK1/SHOWLOG.ZIP ) is still available
and could be run using DOSBOX.
