One easy thing you can do on Windows 10 that helps performance in many cases is to run the built-in Disk Cleanup tool. When you launch it it will scan for files you can get rid of from your user profile, but if you run it with elevated privileges you can tell it to scan system files as well. This can help clean tens of GB of older memory dumps, temporary files, older update files, and even older Windows installations from earlier versions of Windows 10.

This is the first thing I do on my system when it starts having performance issues and 4/5 times it does the trick. It does takeaway while to run, but it is worth it, as modern versions of Windows can be very sensitive to the percentage of free space on your system drive.

Subject: [amsat-bb] Struggling with IC-9700 and WSJT-X

Recently my Windows 10 computer went through an upgrade and ever since then
I cannot get WSJT-X to talk via CAT to my 9700. I've tried the obvious
things like unplugigng the USB cable and plugging it back in again and no
dice. I even reinstalled WSJT-X because I found that HRD was working just
fine. I'm at a loss on this. Any suggestions out there?
