Phil, I'm sure you've probably seen my other response, but at least you are
putting a technical explanation behind it.  Yep, while it still doesn't
work AT ALL on my small "backup" computer, I plugged it directly into the
USB 3.0 port on my primary shack computer and it is now working.   Thanks
everyone for giving me some time to help me figure this one out!
