[sarex] Upcoming ARISS contact with Sol Plaatje Primary School, Mahikeng, South Africa, and Scuola Secondaria di I Grado, Caprino Bergamasco, Italy

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Sol Plaatje Primary School, Mahikeng, South Africa, and  Scuola Secondaria di I Grado, Caprino Bergamasco, Italy on 02 May. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 14:34 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between IR0ISS and IK1SLD. The contact should be audible over Italy and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English.

Scuola Secondaria di I Grado:

Caprino Bergamasco and its school are located atop of hills in between Bergamo and Lecco region. The school facility, recently built, serve the small community of 3000 people, it has pupils from age 3 to 14. Students from 11 to 14 have been involved in the ARISS activity, belonging to classes 1E, 2E, 2F and 3E.

Sol Plaatje Primary School:

It is a co-ed school having Gr.0-Gr.7. There are 1216 learners in the school, planet Earth and beyond is part of the curriculum and as a school they try to develop the learner's knowledge about space bodies and inculcate a love for the subject within the learners.

Sol Plaatje Primary School participated on at the 2014 SAASTA Astronomy Quiz with a team - made by Ebenitha Esterhuizen, Kgotlholela Seagisa, Oratile Selatlhedi and Orefile Morule, prepared by the teacher Ms Micalla Lucas - and resulted the best among more than 1.700 schools.

Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 

1.  When did you dock to ISS and which is the purpose for your mission?

2.  Quale e' stata l'esperienza piu' emozionante che hai vissuto fino ad ora?

3.  I would love to be an astronaut one day and I would like to know what the 

    requirements are to become an astronaut?

5.  In case of emergency, what safety measures do you have in place on the 

    ISS?

6.  Dalle foto che invii sembra che a bordo ci sia un clima molto bello di 

    amicizia, quando siete stati scelti hanno pensato anche alla

8.  Noi viviamo in un piccolo paese sulle colline bergamasche e alcuni di noi 

    vengono da paesi lontani, possiamo pensare ad un futuro come cittadini 

    del Mondo senza perdere il      ricordo delle nostre origini?

     after you have returned from space?

18.  Acqua, olio e alcool in un cilindro graduato, tendono a stratificarsi, a 

     causa delle diverse densita': si potrebbero in microgravita'? Cosa

19.  The ISS rotates in low Earth orbit, what does it mean?

20.  Dato che da li riesci a vedere tutto il mondo, hai scoperto qualche cosa 

     di nuovo come popoli che vivono in zone nascoste o difficili da 

     raggiungere?

21.  Come si fa a riprodurre l'atmosfera sulla ISS?

22.  Quale e' la tua paura più grande? Quale e' la cosa peggiore che potrebbe 

     succedere sulla ISS?

23.  Ti piacerebbe uscire per una passeggiata spaziale? Potresti averne 

     l'opportunita'?

24.  Hai sentito lo sbalzo di temperatura mentre salivi in orbita? Che 

     temperatura c'e' fuori dalla ISS?

    fingertips. Before leaving, did you follow a specific protocol in order 

    to not infect the ISS?

18. Water, oil and alcohol in a graduated cilinder, tend to stratify, due to 

    the different density. What would happen in microgravity?

20. From up there you can see all over the world, have you discovered 

    something new like people who live in hidden areas or hard to be reached?

22. Which is your biggest fear? And what's the worst thing that could happen    

    on the ISS?

24. Did you feel the change in temperature while in orbit? Which is the

25. Which is the most illuminated country, as seen from space? From up there, 

    what's the effect of light pollution?

26. What do you think of presence of extraterrestrial life?

27. What would be happened to your body if not trained for microgravity?

29. Was this your dream of becoming astronaut or did you realize it over the
