Re: Mir de-orbiting.



Hi,

It may be that no QSOs were made on the space shuttle
re-entry, but the meachanism which Will proposes is, in
fact, the oldest known form of satellite communication,
first proposed by John D. Kraus, W8JK, in 1958.  See
my article in July 1960 QST for more details.

Hi Will, I think the same thing has been tried when the shuttle comes back
down. As I recall no contacts were ever made. I do think that it can be
done, but you just have to have the correct timing.
