A lot of bandwidth is being wasted over a 'nothing topic.'  Rather than 
concern oneself that a finite number of people may not know how to make their 
radio work to permit split operation, this is a golden oportunity to -- quite 
literally "force" those who have never opened up their instruction book to do 
so and really learn how to use the unit.
