Pieter
I run 20 watts at the antenna.
The antenna is 18.4 Dbi.
I can work SSB at squints below 15, and preferably below 10.
I would say my setup is marginal for L1 and very marginal for L2,
Which requires at least 4 Db more uplink signal to produce the same downlink
signal.

Subject: [amsat-bb] L band uplink requirements
Hi Al,
I've had my 1.2 GHz module installed in a ts-2000 for months and still have
not tried to make it into AO-40. How much power is required to have a decent
signal into the transponder? Any ideas on how a 1 meter center fed dish
would work as an uplink? Thanks,
Pieter Ibelings
