First of all, welcome back to the birds! My situation is a lot like yours -
though I
never operated in sats back in the 90's, I wanted to, and I finally have the
chance to
build up a station.

I'm finding that the best place for current, updated info on "who's hearing
what" is at
http://oscar.dcarr.org/ . It's a community-driven reporting engine that you
can submit listen
or QSO reports to, so that we can see what's active.

Could not answer your questions on AO-10 or SO-33 for certain, I'm still
building up my
station and RX only, but I have not heard anything about them.
