I remember when Antennex came out with their low-profile "Phantom"  
antennas. They didn't like established procedures for acquiring gain,  
which showed (on the 460mHZ unit) Zero gain.

So - honest to gawd - they came up with their OWN formula and that  
little 4" antenna now has 3db gain!

And let's not get started with manufacturer's published gain figures  
for handheld antennas ... (grin)
