I probably would not have heard it then even if I tried... I don't hear well on 29MHz ;)
Is it known to beacon on Mode-A?

  It was in mode A, as could hear my CW signal come back to me.  Also heard W5QEP with a strong signal, but he never heard me call him.  Isnt the propagation just fun on 29 mhz?

  I am copying a very strong carrier on AO-7 as I write this...
  435.106MHz , no signs of modulation.  Planet Emily latest reports show the transponder might be off... I didn't listen for myself... have to swap co-ax, but I was busy trying to figure out if the carrier were definitely the old girl, or Informator-1/RS-14 which were both directly overhead and whose dopper-shifts were similar at the time... I confirmed it to be definitely coming from AO-7. 
  As I push "send" the carrier is still clear at 3.5 degrees over the north pole...
