Hola Pavel!
Thanks for your post. I did not mention any of the Chinese-made
HTs like the Baofeng UV-5R earlier, since they are not capable of
full-duplex operation on SO-50. Unfortunately, not all UV-5Rs are
the same. I have used one of mine as the downlink receiver, when
connected through a diplexer to my Elk log periodic. I have
transmitted with another UV-5R, a Baofeng UV-82, and even a
Wouxun KG-UV8D.
Last year, I did a demonstration on SO-50 using two Baofeng HTs
(UV-82 for the uplink, UV-5R for the downlink) connected to a
diplexer and my Elk antenna. This worked OK, and I made the
satellite audio into a slideshow video I posted on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cLx9h-vNRA
I have not tried any of my Baofeng or Wouxun HTs with an Arrow
Yagi, or a homebrew equivalent of that Yagi.
I know a friend who has ordered the new AnyTone Termn-8R
2m/70cm FM HT, which is being promoted as capable of full-
duplex operation. It may be like the Wouxun KG-UV8D, which
has been promoted the same way, but cannot work full-duplex
with the weak SO-50 downlink. I hope to get a chance to try
that new AnyTone radio soon, to see if it does any better on
SO-50 than the KG-UV8D.
Buen fin de semana, y 73!
