Hi!
NO-84 will at least transmit beacon packets when the digipeater
on 145.825 MHz is off. It uses PSAT as its call sign when the
digipeater is on, and PSAT-1 when the digipeater is off. You
will also see APRSON in the path for the beacon packets when
the digipeater is on, and APOFF when it is off.
It is possible that a station capable of copying ISS packets
may not work as well for NO-84. NO-84's digipeater has less
transmit power than any of the radios used on the ISS for
145.825 MHz packet. With my Elk antenna and either of my Kenwood
HTs (TH-D74, TH-D72), I do OK with NO-84 when the digipeater is
on.
